Retreat day
Friday, April 1, 2022
Virtually hosted on Zoom
10am–3:30pm Eastern*
Enjoy a retreat day with our community of contemplative women. You’re invited to be our guest.
When you consider your life’s spiritual path, what do you notice?
Does it flow in one straight line, like a strong river on a direct path?
Does it wind and bend this way and that?
Are there offshoots, little explorations of new ground that happened along the way?
Did tributaries from other places come and join up with the flow of your stream?
Each of us has our own stream of spirituality. It has been with us all our lives, flowing along with our life’s currents.
What do you know of your stream? What do you notice when you pause to consider it?
What shape does it take? How has all that has come before brought you to where you are right now in your spiritual path and expression?
This retreat day will honor the totality of your life’s stream of spirituality. You’ll be given the opportunity to learn and bear witness to others and their streams too.
Would you join us for this day of retreat, a chance to pause and notice and honor and celebrate the streams of spirituality that have flowed through your life?
This Retreat Day includes:
Artwork and poetry that evoke contemplation
The ancient voices at the headwaters of all spiritual streams
An invitation to chart your stream of spirituality
Collaborative wisdom gathering and story sharing
How spirituality and religion meet in the deep waters
Retreat Leaders
Christianne Squires is the founder of the Light House community for contemplative women. From 2008–2016, she hosted a spiritual formation and spiritual direction ministry called Still Forming alongside her work as a publishing professional and book editor, two parallel tracks that merged in 2016 to form a company called Bookwifery.
Since 2019, Christianne has put her love for discernment and helping others notice and name their light in service of the Light House community, where contemplative women come together to tend their unique invitations to bear their light in the world.
Becky Grisell is a trained spiritual director, supervisor, and Enneagram facilitator who serves as the programming partner for the Light House community.
With an MDiv from George Fox Seminary and a DMin from Portland Seminary, Becky has a deep heart for helping others come home to themselves. She believes in developing leaders, championing other women, and practicing radical hospitality with self and others.
Elisabeth Fuchs is the proud owner of the Heroine’s Outfittery, which equips the sensible, courageous, and outrageous heroine with the soul food and techniques of the Self she needs for her soul’s journey. These include her signature Kitchen Table Talks, invitations to journaling, and opportunities to learn heroines’ myths and stories.
Called on an unexpected journey with cancer in December 2021, Elisabeth lives in Hamburg, Germany, with her wife of ten years.
Melynne Rust is a writer, author, and ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. She served as a university chaplain and a police chaplain prior to pursuing writing as her ministerial vocation. In her work, she explores the spiritual connections that live within our stories and have the potential to breathe new life into our spirits.
She is the author of Common Spaces Between Us: Nurturing the Good in the Midst of Difference, a book that bears witness to the goodness in each and every human being.

FAQ
How is the retreat delivered?
This retreat is delivered on Zoom. We encourage you to create a quiet, comfortable space for yourself to enjoy the fullness of this retreat day. Breaks (including a meal break) will be provided throughout the day.
Is there any cost?
No. This retreat day is sponsored, at no cost to you, by the Light House community of contemplative women. We are happy to have you join us as a guest member of our community for the day.
Will it be recorded?
Yes. As our further gift to you, we are happy to make available a replay recording of the retreat sessions, which will be delivered via email afterward.
How many people will be in attendance?
Our community retreat days usually draw an attendance of about 30 members of the Light House community. Because this retreat is invitational, allowing our members to invite individuals they know to come along and spend the day with us, we anticipate a larger number in attendance this time.
Am I required to talk or be on camera?
No. While we have found the richest takeaways on these retreats come through the insightful contributions offered by those in attendance and the sense of connection that is created throughout the day through the community’s contributions, participation on camera or by speaking is only ever invited and is in no way required.
Will I be put in a small group?
No. This retreat day offers plenty of room for personal reflection and periodic opportunities for large-group sharing and noticing, but we will stay together in the large group for learning and sharing times on this retreat day.
Do I have to belong to a specific religion or spiritual path to participate?
No. Our community for contemplative women is open to all religious, faith, and spiritual paths and traditions. You can learn more about our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion here.
Will closed captioning and/or a transcript be made available?
Yes. Closed captioning will be made available during the retreat day, as well as on the replay recording, and a closed caption transcript will be included with the replay recordings.
